Book Parties

Are you having problems getting home parties?  Don’t panic why not do a book party instead.  Alot of people are too busy these days to invite guests into their homes.  They have to do many things to prepare the home such as cleaning, cooking, phone calls, and shuffling the household schedule to accommodate this type of event.  This is a simple and easy way to offer as a stress free option.

Ask the hostess to hold a catalog party.  This requires that she set out some catalogs at work, church, or at games.  Maybe she talks to her PTO mothers at meetings, Doctors office personnel when she takes the kids in to their regular appointment.  These are ways for her to gather orders doing what she is usually does every day.

Some things you can do to ease the stress is to give her plenty of catalogs, have a sample order form so it is easy to know how to fill them out quickly, give her an envelope to collect all the money for the orders, and track who has paid and who hasn’t to make her life stress free. Be sure to give her a supply of free products you have to offer, keep in mind that we want to make this as stress -free  as possible so that she wants to do one again.

You can host one yourself to promote to the people you know.  Tell people you are doing a BOOK PARTY. Encourage them to book one of their own to get FREE GIFTS for giving.   You can place ads in your local papers, online and hang them up on bulletin boards promoting them.  Using terms like, “Budget Low?  Book a Catalog Show” This suggests to the hostess seeing the flyers that she could use what she earns for gift giving. No money out of pocket for gift giving, means more family budget or savings.

Recruiting at these shows is a little more difficult, but is it really?  After the orders are all in, and you can either sit down across the table from the hostess, or over the phone total up what the profits are and then show her.  Tell her that this is what she would have made if she was the distributor.  I like to call this seeing is believing recruiting.  This is used when speaking to people who say that they just don’t have the time or the money to get into the business.  Offer them the option of taking orders via a catalog party, and then tell them what they would have made, and say, If we sign you up today, we can place this order through your name and you can put this cash in your pocket instead of the free gifts you would earn being the hostess.  What would you prefer to do?   More than likely she will choose to take the cash and find herself believing she can turn this candle business into a nice income for her family.

Try this tip next time you have a catalog show and see how many people you can recruit into the business
