What You Can Do

Individuals and organizations around the world are raising awareness on trafficking and slavery, and trying to bring this to an end.

You can find out about trafficking in your community by searching local newspapers, magazines, and the Internet. Use keywords such as trafficking, prostitution, pornography, slavery, sex worker or pimp.

Talk with your local police officers and social service providers to learn what step they have taken and are still doing to end trafficking and slavery.

Educate others by creating awareness kits using the information that you have gathered. Hand these kits out to everyone you know.

Reach out by writing articles, editorials and letters to your local newspapers and magazines.

Contact the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. UNODC began a global human trafficking awareness canpaign and joined more than 40 countries to make customized versions of video spots which you can use to present at a meeting.

Report suspected incidents of trafficking in the U.S., by calling the National Human Trafficking Resource Center 1-888-373-7888, a 24 hour toll free number. Callers can receive many services such as crisis intervention, urgent/non-urgent referrals, tip reporting and comprehensive anti-trafficking resources.
