Computers, Brain, and Silicon

Published by mariemyers under Real Stories Edit This

There is this magazine called “InformationWeek”. I have never heard of it before my postman began leaving it in my mail box one day and every week after. Somehow, my daughter has it coming to her and she does not even read it. I have been wanting to take a look but never remember to do so. Finally I decided to make the time to look at this magazine.

The first article that caught my attention was titles “Humam Brain In Silicon”. It started with announcing the IBM is partnering with five universities to make computers that operate as a human brain. I was like “WoW”.  They are attempting to make computers like the actualy human brain structure, behavior, and function on transistors and silicon.

I am not a person who gets the newspaper on a regular basis so after reading this, I had to read it again and through the whole artical.

This research is being funded in form of a grant in the amount of $4.9 million from the government’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

My first thought was; just one more thing being funded by our government while we still have homelessness and hunger in our world.

The purpose of this research is to speed up the process for consumers in order to recieve things such as credit reports, tax returns, paystubs, and morgage statements faster. This is so that lending companies can make dicisions quicker in whether or not to approve  a loan.

Sex Trafficking

Published by mariemyers under Personal Notes Edit This

What You Can Do

Individuals and organizations around the world are raising awareness on trafficking and slavery, and trying to bring this to an end.

You can find out about trafficking in your community by searching local newspapers, magazines, and the Internet. Use keywords such as trafficking, prostitution, pornography, slavery, sex worker or pimp.

Talk with your local police officers and social service providers to learn what step they have taken and are still doing to end trafficking and slavery.

Educate others by creating awareness kits using the information that you have gathered. Hand these kits out to everyone you know.

Reach out by writing articles, editorials and letters to your local newspapers and magazines.

Contact the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. UNODC began a global human trafficking awareness canpaign and joined more than 40 countries to make customized versions of video spots which you can use to present at a meeting.

Report suspected incidents of trafficking in the U.S., by calling the National Human Trafficking Resource Center 1-888-373-7888, a 24 hour toll free number. Callers can receive many services such as crisis intervention, urgent/non-urgent referrals, tip reporting and comprehensive anti-trafficking resources.

Life Ending @ 17

Published by mariemyers under Real Stories Edit This

April 24, 1990

A beautiful baby girl was born and named Felicia Nicole Mikels who has a mother, father, and a big (one years old) sister.

This child at this time is the youngest family member of 6 cousins, 5 aunts, 6 uncles, 3 grand parents, and 1 sister.

This baby girl was nick-named Fleesh. As with all babies, she was adored by everyone who seen her.

She developed dirty golden blond hair and a tom-boy personality. She became strong, independent, and stubborn to what she wanted on a daily bases. She refused to except NO for an answer no matter what her punishment would be.

She became daddy’s little girl with her beautiful blue eyes and rosy chubby cheeks.

Growing Up

By the time Fleesh entered middle school, her family members increased with cousins and siblings. She now had a sister and two brothers.

Fleesh was not a person that had problems with making friends wherever she decided to do so.

The more friends she made, the more she was away from home. She did get good grades because that was a must with her. At a curtain point Fleesh sometimes disregarded her curfew because she had a need to be with other people.

As Fleesh grew older her mouth displayed rudeness toward her mother and father. Dad let her do anything as long as she wasn’t getting on his nerves. Mom on the other hand wanted to be a mother. But every time she would lay down and enforce standard rules, she was disrespected by both the child and the father by not following anything mom said.

Felicia and sister Laura

Daily Life Style

Because of the strong person that Fleesh became, she took on the role of big sis. Laura did anything and everything she could to hang out with her sister Felicia and her sister’s friends.

Home became not a good atmosphere for this family of 4 children and both parents. Dad was doing things outside of the family and mom was trying to take care of her children. Her 2 son’s had severe ADHD. Mom refused help from her family members and she had no friends.

Neighbors began making phone calls to the local police and to DYFS (Division of Youth and Family Services) pretty much on a daily bases. This was because of the loudness of the events that went on in the household.

Everytime mom tried to do the right thing, she was threatened to loose her children because the loud noices were reported.

Changes Of Home-life

Dad left the home and he left mom holding the bag. A huge bag actually. Dad moved in with his mother and eventually took custody of 4 kids after he managed to loose the family home.

The girls was left to defend for themselves because they would not listen to rules. They went where and when they wanted. As expected from most teens, the sisters mixed with a rough crowd. MOst smoked weed, popped pills, and drank alcohol.

Laura got pregnant and had a beautiful baby girl in 2006. Fleesh took steps on bettering her life at this point. She took on a job at a Subway place in Cherry Hill, NJ. Some thought that it was because she wanted to help take care of her niece.

Felicia gave birth to a baby girl on December 10, 2007. She named her Miciana, after a favorite pop singer.

January 18, 2008 Felicia was killed by her uncle’s best friend and the assistance of her uncle. Fleesh was about 100 pounds at 5′7 inches. They beat her over the back of her head with a 4×4, wrapped her in tarp and put her in a near-by creek that leads to the Deleware River.

December 10, 2007

End Result

Uncle Chris and his best friend has been in the Camden County Jail since January 20th. Miciana was found in a car seat on someone’s lawn in freezing cold weather.

A body was discovered just a few days after Felicia’s 18th birthday (April 24, 2008). An autopsy had to be performed in order to see if the body was male or female.

Dental recorts were salt and pronounced that it was Felicia Nicole Mikels.

Finally DNA results finally came. Christopher Mikels is the biological father of Miciana Ceira Ramos, who is the daughter of Felicia Nicole Mikels.

Chris is Felicia’s father’s brother. Her uncle. He raped her and that was the secret that I could not see. She told no one because she was afraid.

Baby has been given to Chris’s sister. My family has lost two people because of these people.

What Gets Me Up in the Morning ?

Published by mariemyers under Mia Bella's Edit This

The sun shinning through my bedroom window with the scent of victorian roses throughout.

I do not wake up to an alarm clock unless I have to get my son up for school. I work in my home, therefore; I have to listen to NOone in order to receive a pay check.

The amount of my pay check depends on me. My work schedule is totally up to me.

This does not make me lazy nor does it meant that I married someone rich and/or wealthy. This gives me full control of my life. No. I did not get rich yet but I am the next person in the line.

I do not spend my time or money on advertising. I just talk to others about the products because I use them in my home. I love the fresh fruits and flowers in my house. They are not over powering because my son would complain.

People do not want to hear a sales-pitch. You cannot sell something unless you know the product from a personal experience. I do not have a sales pitch nor do I use a speech. I tell people of the things that I use and my experience of the business.

I wish you a pleasant day at work.

The Story of Mia Bella’s Gourmet Candles

Published by mariemyers under Mia Bella's Edit This

The Mia Bella’s Gourmet Candles are named after the daughter of the company owners. They also have a son.

The wax comes from vegetables, plants, and other renewable resources which help the American Farmers.

Fragrances come from around the world. Wax is melted in large pots before being poured into jars and molds.

Once cooled, you have the finished 16 ounce jar candles and 2.5 ounce votive and Mia melts. I seen the top of the pies being hand painted with hot wax and a small paint brush.

Then the candles are gathered on a conveyor to be boxed and wrapped. Orders are placed by distributors all over the United States and Canada by phone, fax, and computer.

Orders are gathered and shipped to distributors by truck so they can sell them from home, in privately owned stores, and craft shows. Most distributors have at least one family member always looking out to see that brown truck on the same date of each month. Because it’s like receiving a gift every month.

Candles are used for fundraisers to help youth sports, churches, schools, and more. I have helped Relay For Life and Kiwanis International.

Anyone can be a Mia Bella’s Distributor… Moms, Dad, Doctors, Lawyers, and even Kids!

Scent-Sations has other great products like soap, hand/body wash, car air fresheners, hand cream, and more. You should see the bakery. I love it.

The founders of Scent Sations, Inc. are Carmen & Lynn Milazzo, Charlie Umphred, Cyndi Kennelly, Bob & Cathy Scocozzo.

The company is filled with family oriented people and willing to help anyone who asks. This is the main reason why I decided to join the ever growing Mia Bella family.
